Alexis's Experience

While my musical journey may have started watching my family play in the orchestra pits, my taste has since gone from classical to eclectic. On any given day you might see me switching between Harry Styles, Danger Incorporated, and The Pretty Reckless in between shooting off client media strategies and drafting pitches for my supervisors, so I might not be the remote work office’s favorite DJ but I’m forever searching for the perfect song to accompany my schedule. Working as a Freelance Music Publicist while wrapping up my career at Tier One Partners as an Account Associate has truly shown me how much I appreciate balancing music, entertainment, and strategic challenges. Actively working on my own schedule as a freelance music publicist while working at a strictly B-2-B agency has given me a unique opportunity to hone not only my interpersonal and client communications skills but flex my creative muscle, as well as improve my ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, which is something I’d love to continue to grow. My most recent agency role at Tier One partners gave me the opportunity to counsel my client contacts within the tech, financial, and healthcare industries on media pitching strategies for company and product announcement as well as thinking creatively on timely, newsjacking-focused angles, and the ability to work closely and collaboratively with senior leadership on developing media pitches and subsequently ghostwriting any client-facing articles, press releases, and branded social copy. I was also given the opportunity to run the media measurement program across my account teams, pulling and analyzing data around client and competitor mentions before ultimately presenting for executives. During this time I also began working with a former internship, IndieBandGuru, on a separate project to develop media outreach strategy and press releases for independent artists on their roster. In this role, I also had the pleasure of working closely with emerging artist Ara Celia, who recently released her first charitable giving single, aimed to donate proceeds earned to underrepresented communities of color in Brooklyn, NY, and the NYC area. I believe being able to work simultaneously across not only B-2-B service and software companies but with independent artists has given me a unique perspective on finding timely, interesting angles for media as well as improved my time management and attention to detail as I’m switching between projects. I love putting new ideas into practice and am never afraid to ask “why” or “what else can we” do to move something forward and constantly love exploring new music. This need to constantly perfect my administrative and communication skills combined with my lifelong passion for music is a constant motivator for me to take on any opportunity.
