About Alison Choi

I am a singer-songwriter and producer based in Chicago. My passion lies in lyrical composition and using music to share vulnerable experiences and connect with others. I am also a PhD student in History at Northwestern, where I study Asian American history, Asian diaspora, and U.S. imperialism. I enjoy working with likeminded musicians who are invested in not only their personal growth, but how they can uplift others and join movements of social change, similar to the mission of She Is The Music. Alison's Experience

I write, produce, and mix all of my own songs. My primary passion lies in songwriting, and I am currently teaching myself music production. I recently produced a music video for my latest single, Four Trees. Working with Jessica Eu, a talented filmmaker, I produced the concept for the song, and let her into my song-making process, to create a rich video experience to accompany my song. As a two-person team, we also produced marketing materials and laid out a marketing strategy together for the song. I am excited to continue writing and producing songs, and hopefully work with more creators. To eventually build a supportive team for my music, and also assist others in writing songs and bringing their artistic vision to life, is my goal.
