About Ava Lemert

Singer, Songwriter, Multi-Instrumentalist (keyboards, woodwinds, saxophones [principal live instrument]), Producer, Recording/Mixing/Mastering Engineer. Born in Covina, California, Ava Lemert began singing her made-up songs into her sister’s tape recorder before she started Kindergarten. Her first instrument was a butter tub and wooden spoons, but would start out on clarinet in elementary school. Her Father bartered work as a motorcycle instructor for Yamaha Motorcycles in order to buy Ava a new YAS-23 alto saxophone for Jazz Band. Eventually, Ava was her High School marching band's first underclassman — as well as the first female— Drum Major. After attending the University of Southern California, Ava struck out into the workforce. Music wasn't a part of her busy life until 2005, when as a mother of a 3 year old son, she re-learned how to read sheet music so she could play saxophone again in a community marching band. From there, she got the fever to perform and write again, and in 2021, she celebrated her 13th year as a fully independent, self-produced recording artist. Her catalog is several hours long, with 9 album/EPs, and well over 30 singles released. Ava has been a Voting Member of the RECORDING ACADEMY (Grammy Awards) since 2017, has served as a Grammy Advocacy Team Captain (District 7, CA), and has made the Grammy ballot 7 times thus far. Her music has also garnered several awards, including the Akademia 2022 Lifetime Musical Legacy Award. Ava also lends her talents as a performing and recording artist to several local and international charities, raising money and donating proceeds to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, USO, Loaves and fishes' Maryhouse (a shelter/nursery for homeless women and children in Sacramento), Wounded Warrior Project, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and the Love Hope Strength Foundation. In addition to her live performances, recording and advocacy work, Ava is a mother, wife, veteran graphic designer, illustrator, photographer, and videographer in the Sacramento, California region.

Ava's Experience

I do nearly everything myself. Being a veteran graphic artist helps! I built my studio, constructed my own isolation booth and run my own sound, lights, and own all equipment I perform with in addition to engineering, songwriting and producing, I do all my marketing, videos, logos, and online content. I’ve been in bands, but to do my own music and to express myself, I stay solo and control my own work and vision. I have lent my vocals and saxophone to collaborative projects, and have hired musicians to fill out my music with me, however, I do not have a “band” by choice, I have directed and had them before, it’s like herding cats!
