About Rebecca Strauss

I recently graduated from the honors program at Emerson College, where I received a Bachelor of Arts in the Business of Creative Enterprises. This major is described as being for people “with a passion for the arts, but a mind for business,” both of which I exemplify. I also have taken classes at Berklee College of Music, where I was able to further engage myself in the various complicated aspects of the music industry. Having just graduated college, I am now looking for music industry opportunities in live music, A&R, etc. I have experience working in live music in various capacities. I have worked for Billboard, and was on-site at the annual Women in Music event and the Billboard Hot 100 Music Festival. At both of these events, I worked directly with artists and their teams, and I also was in communication with fans and attendees. For a year I worked as the Guest Coordinator for Good Morning Emerson, my school's weekly morning news show. Here, I was in charge of first booking musical guests for the show each week and then acting as the guests' first line of communication on set. That same year, I worked as an usher at a theater in Boston, so I was able to become very aware of what consumers like and what makes an event enjoyable, memorable, etc. When I was an Artist Relations Intern at Billboard, I inputted and kept data up to date in various spreadsheets, oversaw expenses and managed calendars for the entire Artist Relations team, coordinated artists’ in-office visits, and more During my time as a Talent Management Intern at Fire Tower Entertainment, one of my main focuses was finding and researching emerging musical artists on social media platforms such as TikTok, and then contacting them regarding potential collaborations and/or signings. While my position at Good Morning Emerson was centered on live music booking, there was an A&R component as well because I researched and then contacted up-and-coming artists in the Boston area to perform on the show.
