About Berenice Fernandez

Born and raised in the Rio Grand Valley, (the southernmost tip of Texas) and the first of my family to be born in the U.S. My parents moved from Mexico to the United States and became pastors at a church. Like most pastor's kids, at a young age I became involved in the music ministry (as well as involved in every other ministry/department in the church). I grew up singing at church, then taking guitar and piano lessons from other musicians at church. At the age of 13 I transitioned into drums and quickly fell In love with the instrument. Through out middle school and high school, music was always my passion and it was what kept me going. From being a band kid at school, to starting a band with my brother and giving on weekends, and playing at every service at my parent's church. I always knew music is what I wanted to do. There was never another option. After high school, I studied music performance at a University level for one year. Then at the age of 21, I moved to the wonderful city of Houston, TX in pursuit of a music career. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. To leave my family and everything I knew and go out into the real world at the age of 21, it was tough to say the least. But I knew I had to venture out and get out of my comfort zone in order to learn and grow musically, but also as a person. It has now been a little over 4 years since I've been living in Houston. Although its been the hardest 4 years of my life, it has been the best decision I've ever made. I've been blessed enough to have met amazing people and connect with so many musicians with mutual dreams and goals. The connections I've made and friendships I've cultivated has really helped me grow in so many different aspects. During this time I also had the opportunity to work for LIVE NATION, which is one of the biggest companies and names in entertainment. From working at the House of Blues in Retail/Box Office to becoming a Supervisor in Ticketing & Box Office at Revention Music Center, it was an amazing opportunity to work for both companies under Live Nation and Ticketmaster. It really opened my eyes and taught me a lot about the industry in the areas of ticketing, production, marketing, and operating a music venue. I am currently a full time musician. It has always been my number one passion and priority. I am currently a drummer at a local church. I am also a musician in an all-female band called Kingdom Come. And I really just love to play, anywhere and any time an opportunity is presented. Being a full-time musician is not always the easiest and financially can be unsteady a lot of the times, but for me it is absolutely worth it. It has never been about the money for me. Its about doing what I love to do and being able to create. Being a musician is not a job, it is my language.

Berenice' Experience

I’ve been able to apply these skills throughout my music career working with different artists. From working in the studio as a drummer, to songwriting and singing/ vocal producing in various projects. I’ve also worked in live settings, mostly as a drummer for different bands and churches, as well as singing leads and background vocals for different artists.
