Hi! My name is Grecia, although professionally, I go as the Bronzed Hispanic. I am a 20 y/o rising singer and songwriter. Not your conventional Mexican singer though. I was born in the city of Guadalajara in Mexico, and never felt part of the Status quo here of what I should be like as a female and as a Mexican. That is why I am trying to be my own kind of Mexican. What I sing and write is mostly R&B, Funk, and Soul music. Again, not very much expected from someone with my background. I was raised in a bilingual environment, having half of my family in the United States and the other half here. I was taught English at the age of 5 and became fluent at 8. My education was based on 90% of my studies being taught in English by native speakers, spending time with my friends from school, and spending the summers in sunny California with my cousins who spoke little to no Spanish at the time. The other 10% of my education was taught in Spanish. Whenever I gathered with my family here in Guadalajara, and anything else that surrounded me outside of school was all in Spanish. I must say that I was forced into having this education, but please, don't take it the wrong way. My parents knew that I would need it to feel "equal" and be able to communicate with my cousins. They worried I would feel out of place if I didn't learn on time. So ever since I was able to handle Spanish for basic needs, they embarked me on the journey of not only learning a second language but also of diving into a new culture. Fun fact: I HATE being asked why my English is so good. People assume that because I'm Mexican I don't have the right to have a good English or any other language for the matter. Even having that come from my own family is quite sad. Yet I know that's going to take me far someday. My parents weren't able to pay for college once I graduated High School, so I've never gone. All I do is work on projects from the outside and figure out ways to make money to support them and the lessons I take to become a better musician. I'm barely getting started and I feel strong. I've built a relationship with God since I've tried to do things on my own so much that I figured out I need him to hold me and lead me more than ever. I'm making changes, BIG changes and he's the one responsible for everything. I'm just working my butt off lol! I took Alicia's MasterClass and could relate to her during the early stages of her career where she was struggling! Self-love and care are key on this thing and that is what I'm currently working on. Anyway, I'm glad to be here, and getting to meet such amazing women on the rise is nothing more than a privilege to me. Please stay tuned with me because I'm on my way!
