About Cassandra Rodríguez

Hi! :) My name's Cassandra, I'm Mexican and I'm a singer/songwriter. I haven't always been a singer, though. I remember wanting to study music back when I was 18, but my parents thought it would be wiser to study something more "socially acceptable", so I ended up going to med school. Little did they know that as soon as I'd finished I was going back to doing what I really loved and I joined a jazz Big Band as the lead singer. We had a blast while touring around the country and I learned a lot from the experience. I wanted to travel the world, so I came to Spain 4 years ago. Many things have changed in my life ever since, and I ended up living in a small town and with no band, which has been... pretty depressing, I must admit. But even though I'm not performing any more, I've never stopped singing and I started writing my own songs.

Cassandra's Experience

I started singing about 10 years ago, when I joined the Pachuco’s Big Band back in Mexico. We toured around the country and I learned a lot from the experience! I started writing my own songs a little after that, but was too shy to share them with others, so I made my own vocal arrangements and recorded everything at my home studio. I’m currently learning how to play the piano and how to arrange and produce my songs to make them sound a little bit less amateur. Even though my influences are mostly jazzy and bluesy, I wouldn’t know exactly how to define my style… I guess it just depends on my mood and on what’s going on in my mind at that moment!
