I have been in the music industry professionally now for a decade building my skillset as a singer, songwriter, rapper and producer. I have put in the years to learn about the business, train, network, perform, open for international artists and release original music. I currently reside in Toronto, Canada, and am in the process of relocating to Los Angeles. Below is my full bio. Esma, artist name same as me, is a rapper, producer, singer and songwriter originally hailing from Edmonton, Alberta but relocating to Toronto, Ontario to pursue her musical aspirations. Immediately coming to Toronto, same as me hit the ground running landing her opportunities like becoming a Honey Jam Alumni, which is an artist concert and program with Alumni such as Nelly Furtado, Jully Black and Melanie Fiona. Winning a spot into Canada’s Music Incubator Artist Entrepreneur program worth 10K put on by management company Coalition Music and won the Canada’s Walk of Fame Emerging Artist Metalworks 10K scholarship. same as me then caught the attention of Roy Hamilton III (#1 Hit Producer and former A&R of Capitol Records) who joined her team and hired her to work for his Artist Development company. Soon after same as me would collaborate with International acts from Karl Wolf to Jadakiss to name a few. She has also played major festivals such as Canadian Music Week. She has worked with are JUNO award winner Rich Kidd (Drake, SonReal), hit Producer/songwriter Fingazz (Snoop Dogg, Karl Wolf), and Award-winning Producer/Songwriter Lisa Patterson. same as me harnessed a skill set that allows her to have full creative control after building her own home studio and adding vocal producer, vocal editor, recording engineer, video creator/director/editor, and visuals/apparel designer to her job title. Having parents that have both escaped war-torn countries to make a better life in Canada, advocacy of equal rights and freedom is crucial to same as me’s message. If everyone saw each other as the same, as equals, we would be living a sweet dream – same as me Though she was drawn to pop and hip hop, she was also inspired by and studied classical music, jazz, r&b and musical theatre. She has studied at the Alberta Conservatory of Music and Studied Dramatic Arts at the University of Alberta. She is also hip hop dance both at 3rd Street Beat in Edmonton, Alberta and gained a scholarship to train in Hip Hop dance in Toronto. She has over ten years of experience in vocal training with many prominent coaching, learning different techniques and methods. Her vocal mentor is celebrity vocal coach Elaine Overholt (Shawn Mendes, Majid Jordan). She has also trained in Los Angeles, CA with celebrity vocal coach Ron Allen (Alicia Keys, Selena Gomez). Esma has released numerous singles and music videos that harnessed over 100K Youtube views before removing all her previous work for a rebrand. She also landed a sync deal with Emmy Award-winning company Bunim/Murray (Keeping Up With The Kardashians). Some outlets Esma’s music has appeared on numerous radio stations across Canada such as Toronto’s Urban Hit Music Station G98.7 FM, California Music Channel, and OK TV Germany to name a few. same as me has worked with LA-based Artist Development and Marketing company A&R Worldwide who have helped launch the careers of artists such as Adele and Katy Perry.
