About Frannie Holder

I'm a singer-songwriter-composer and founding member of 2 very distinct bands. The first one is called Random Recipe (since 2007), a high-energy live indie hip hop band fronted by 2 female MCs. On our last album "Distractions", we collaborated with 15 women, from producers to mastering engineers, musicians and featuring artists. My other band is called Dear Criminals (since 2013), a soft minimal folk/electro trio. We make sad songs and also write music for film, theatre, tv series, and contemporary dance shows. Apart from my bands, I also work as a sound designer for theatre and contemporary dance productions, as a artistic directors for live music shows, and I sometimes coach young female artists who are looking for advice when starting their careers. I'm also a SOCAN Foundation board member and and advocate looking to help women thrive in the music industry.

Frannie's Experience

I’ve been writing music for 11 years as a top liner with my 2 bands. I’ve been a studio musician (vocals, guitar, omnichord, keyboards) and a touring musician for 10 years. I’ve also written music for film with one of my bands and have won the IRIS for best original soundtrack in Quebec in 2017 for the movie Nelly. I’ve done sound design for theatre in Quebec, and composed for theatre and contemporary dance in Canada and France.
