Rivky's Experience

My name is Rivky and I’m a singer-songwriter living in NYC. I host “Melody Left Behind”, celebrating underserved performers with schizophrenia, psychosis, and those who process the stage and the world just a little differently. I applaud programs that are slowly opening up more neurodiverse inclusion dialogue but I haven’t seen much accessibility and on-stage innovation for artists that sometimes need a pause during mid live show concerts. Without it having to feel “awkward”. I’d love to continue sharing my music while also connecting to artists and platforms who better represent underserved artists! Would you help us to celebrate performers who don’t always have a voice to be heard? In previous events I partnered with celeb guest host Susie Mosher of the legendary Birdland Jazz Club in NYC and last series we had longtime booker Evan Kremin of the historical venue “The Bitter End”! This Summer we’re bringing “Melody Left Behind” to a few music festivals and we’d just be so thrilled to connect with more performers and establishments who can help us to shed a light on performers living with schizophrenia, psychosis and those who experience the stage just a little differently. Some of these gifted musicians don’t always get the chance to perform at a regular venue or tour on mainstream stages due to accessibility limitations. Let’s celebrate more differently minded and talented performers in mainstream sectors. Maybe this resonates with you, your family and friends. Many of us feel too much shame to speak publicly about schizophrenia but perhaps with your support we can break this stigma and just celebrate wonderful music and wonderfully talented humans who just need a platform to be heard.
