Jade's Experience

I went to DePaul University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2022. I Majored in Communication and Media and Minored in Music Business. In school I took numerous courses focused on the entertainment industry including artist management, music festival management, music publishing and legal issues in the music business. In addition to the experience I gained at university, I interned for a music broadcasting company called DittyTV where I offered my research, writing, editing, production, and hospitality skills. I researched music and media and wrote the daily news segment scripts which were then recorded and aired daily on the station. At DittyTV I also assisted the production team and shot photos of the bands during their in-studio performances. My professionalism and hospitality skills were an asset to DittyTV as I assisted with artist relations, interviews, and backstage operations. After this internship I became the band manager of Such Jam Much Chill, a lofi jam band with a sound influenced by Vulfpeck, The Grateful Dead, and Noname. I booked shows at small to medium sized venues, and promoted their music on social media after creating and implementing a media plan which increased their followers and engagement. I exemplified strong communication skills through advising band members, coordinating with industry professionals. Today, I am continuing to broaden my knowledge and experience in music publishing, event coordination, and promotion. Going forward I am hoping to find a mentor who will offer me insight on navigating the industry as a recent graduate looking to break into the music/entertainment industry.
