She Is The Music

About Jennifer Grouws

I am a roots musician from Iowa. Founding member of the award winning Avey/Grouws Band out of the Quad Cities. 2 time Iowa Blues Challenge winners and 2 time semifinalists at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, 2018 and 2020. Blues, roots, rock, country... genres are blurred and that's just the way I like it. I pride myself on my connection with an audience, but more than anything, I'm a songwriter. There's nothing that feels as good as getting the line you know you needed! Getting set to release our debut album The Devil May Care on March 20th with the help of Betsie Brown at Blind Racoon.

Jennifer' Experience

After running an indie radio station for years, I met my band at a blues jam and it was instant connection. Since meeting them, I’m now a full time touring musician using my skills as a songwriter, marketer and businesswoman, entertainer and arranger to propel our band to our current status in a short period of time. Connecting with other women in music has been huge for me, creating showcases, interviewing them, sharing a bill, etc.

She Is The Music PresentsWomen Sharing the Spotlight

On behalf of She Is The Music, it is with great pleasure that we recognize the below women for their extraordinary contributions to the music industry at our inaugural Women Sharing The Spotlight cocktail event.

Women Sharing The Spotlight is founded in the ethos that when we make more space for each other, when we bring more women into the room, we create a vibrant spirit and ecosystem of mentorship, growth and opportunity -- together. This is a unique event for industry leaders to not only converge and celebrate -- but to share their platforms, their voices, and their strength with one another and with the next generations of women forging the path ahead.

The list has been selected by our advisory council as one of 50 exceptional women to be celebrated for your 20+ years of remarkable achievement, contribution and impact in music.

Rooted in the conviction that 'We Are Stronger Together', we have asked each honoree to nominate another woman they admire to share the spotlight.

Women Sharing The Spotlight is envisioned as an annual celebration, creating a platform to elevate and empower women who are shaping the future of music.
