About Jess Spence

Originally, I am from Houston, TX but grew up in South Carolina. I graduated from the College of Charleston in 2017 with a major in Arts Management and a minor in Photography. Since graduation, I've worked for Garden & Gun magazine, as a freelance photographer, an Artist Liaison at High Water Festival (AC Entertainment), and most recently as a Ticketing / Sales Coordinator at the North Charleston Coliseum & Performing Arts Center. I recently moved to Nashville as I am interested in switching careers to be in music rights administration. I love most genres of music and some of my favorite artists include: Steely Dan, Phoebe Bridgers, St. Vincent, Fleet Foxes, Wilco, Post Malone, Lizzo, The Doobie Brothers, Jim Croce, The Strokes, Ruston Kelly, Maggie Rodgers, etcetcetc. When I'm not working, you'll find me spending time with my dog at the park, taking a workout class, watching a documentary, or my personal favorite: at a concert with friends.

Jess's Experience

In college, I joined the local music blog SceneSC to share my love of music through writing and photography. I wrote album reviews, interviewed local musicians, and promoted artists’ tours and new music. This position allowed me to get an inside look at the music industry and understand what its like to be an artist. Since then, I’ve always known I wanted to work with artists to promote their work. I’ve developed skills in project and event management, communication, customer service, building relationships and sales in my positions since graduation. I recently moved to Nashville, TN because I am deeply interested in joining a music publishing company.
