Jessica's Experience

Between 2007 and 2013, I completed 3 degrees in saxophone performance from Universities in Australia and the US. Prior to this time, I was in an all-girls motown band as a member of the horn section, and have performed extensively around the world as a solist and chamber musician. I am one of a very few saxophonists to hold degrees in Orchestral performance (saxophone is not always considered a member of the orchestra sadly), however I work to denounce this myth (there are thousands of compositions for saxophone in the orchestra), and to overcome the additional challenges of being a woman in a largely male dominated field – up to 85% male. I am also super flexible and would love to work in any genres or styles, so don’t let my specific focus put you off! I love music of all kinds and would adore an opportunity to break into the pop world!
