About Kimberly Chen

Hello! I am currently a student at the University of California, Berkeley intending to double-major in Business Admin and Media Studies. I'm extremely passionate about marketing/advertising, public relations, brand strategy, and the music industry as well as how causes for social good can align with any and all of these sectors to have a positive impact on our society. My particular interest is in helping to advocate for female and POC musicians/creatives through my pursuit of entertainment law and business.

Kimberly's Experience

As a second-year at UC Berkeley, I hope to double-major in Business Administration & Media Studies before going to law school and entering the legal side of the music industry. But my first love has always been music itself. I haven’t always had the greatest relationship with my older sister, but we have always been able to connect through music. Through her, I listened to my first songs by J. Cole and Lil Wayne, beginning my love affairs with hip-hop and R&B that have continued since. With experience as the San Francisco Scene Reporter for a renowned music and entertainment website, MXDWN.com, and a music committee member in BCEC, I’ve had the unique experience to dip my toes into the music industry, but I’m hoping that you will allow me to explore the inner workings of the music industry more. As a former Communications Intern for a MedTech VC firm called Hunniwell Lake Ventures and an experiential marketing associate for The Daily Californian, I’ve been able to gain experience using social media platforms to cultivate relationships with the demographics through the use of Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
