About Kortney Bostic

I am currently a student at Full Sail University, working towards a degree in Show Production. I am passionate about all aspects of audio, but majority of my work is centered around live audio engineering and training to do production management. I have been doing live audio engineering since late 2019, and I've been doing it semi-professionally since the summer of 2020. Some of my previous gigs have been for religious organizations, local non profit choirs, and non-profit organizations, leading up to starting at Full Sail. In 2022, I attended the Disney Dreamers Academy; an essay competition where one hundred high school students are sent to Disney for four days to network and learn skills needed to make dreams a reality. As far as my top skillsets, I am naturally a contextual learner with an ability to visualize complex work and signal flows with strong research and organizational skills. In addition, some of my strongest developed skillsets are in leadership, production management, and problem solving.

Kortney's Experience

Majority of the gigs I have worked at this point in my life have been smaller scale gigs. A large portion of my time in this industry was during the pandemic, and majority of my gigs were for religious organizations, outdoors. Being outdoors meant that we had to design a somewhat portable system that could be set up and torn down every Sunday morning, and I learned a lot in that because I got to help design a handful of different iterations of the A/V setup, and work very hands on with backline gear and audio visual technologies. While outdoors, I was also apart of creating stereo audio recordings of church services. Shortly after returning indoors, I started taking over FOH engineering for church services each week, leading to more opportunities running FOH and fold-back outside of the church environment. I got to work a few high school theater type gigs, where I got even more experience with doing backline and stage hand type responsibilities. I had taken a lead on a position as an A/V technician at a local Jewish Synagogue, where they were looking to improve their current A/V setup, and I got to spec and implement a semi-permanent A/V setup that I am continually working on remotely. Some of my bigger gigs were working local non-profit organization musical fundraising events. For the non-profit VOICE, I set up backline, in addition to wired and wireless mics. I ran FOH audio in addition to multitracking and mixing the multitrack recordings of the multiple day run of the VOICE shows. I have also worked mixing multitrack recordings of previous live VOICE performances from before my engagement with them. Another non-profit event I worked on was for the organization Second Home, where they had a mix of child and adult performers, singing various songs from popular musicals. My responsibilities there primarily was mixing FOH and setting up microphones. At the events held by those two non-profit organizations, I also worked as the assistant Production engineer to my mentor. Since starting at Full Sail University, I have been the production manager on many student and class productions, leading teams between four to seven people. At Full Sail, I have production managed and mixed FOH for an all women’s talent showcase called Femme Finesse on two different occasions, in addition to working as a production manager on some of my class productions. The most recent class production I managed was a live broadcast put on for my university’s online audio students.
