About Krysta Rayford

K.Raydio is a vocalist, songwriter and producer based in Chicago. A self-described soul musician, K.Raydio channels nostalgic R&B influences of the past with experimental futuristic production to create a natural, distinctive sound that is uniquely hers. The Minneapolis Star Tribune described her sound as having “positive, flowery, soul-power vibrations […] but with a peppier edge.” As K.Raydio, I have spent over a decade making an impact internationally as an independent singer-songwriter, performing on a variety of stages and collaborating with a diverse roster of talented musicians. Since 2010, I have released over a dozen albums and EP’s, over 100 features and singles, and has over 1,000,000 combined streams on DSPs including Spotify, Apple Music and Soundcloud.

Krysta's Experience

As K.Raydio, I have spent over a decade making an impact in Minneapolis as an independent singer-songwriter, performing on a variety of stages and collaborating with a diverse roster of talented musicians. Since 2010, I have released over a dozen albums and EP’s, over 100 features and singles, and has over 1,000,000 combined streams on DSPs including Spotify, Apple Music and Soundcloud. Since 2020, I have been a Global Music Initiative (GMI) Artist-in-Residence at MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis, MN. In addition to this position, I have also been a Faculty Instructor for the Electronic Music Recording Arts (EMRA) department at MacPhail since its inception in 2020. During this time, I have taught a course called The Singer/Songwriter’s Toolkit for 4 cohorts of students, and have presented my workshop “Step Up to the Mic” for K-12 students at schools throughout the Midwest. Outside of music, I have years of experience as Voiceover Talent with a specialized background in Audio Description narration. My credits include Empire (FOX), A Black Lady Sketch Show (HBO), Independent Lens (PBS), Barbie’s Dreamhouse Adventures (Netflix), and Around The Way (Hulu) among others.
