Leah's Experience

I have been producing on Logic Pro X for 4 years. I recently released an EP “Midnight Loneliness”, in which I wrote, recorded, produced and mixed myself in a bedroom set-up studio. Myself and my drummer also set up a drum studio in his house, buying all the necessary record equipment. This gave me huge knowledge and experience with studio engineering, specifically to drums, as well as mixing them along with all of the other instruments. Because I played all of the other instruments on the EP, it means that I got experience in being a studio musician for myself, as well as the writer for all of the songs. Most recently, I got to record and co-produce a single at Abbey Road Studios. This gave me a lot of experience in a high-quality recording studio, where I could see how the engineers worked, as well as being a studio musician, and in control of the sessions and the musicians playing. In terms of a live setting, whilst at The BRIT School, because I had such determination and a curiosity to learn, I figured out how to work the mixing desks and get a really nice live sound. Because I have good knowledge on instruments and their frequencies etc from studio recording and mixing, I was able to use this when working a mixing desk. The teachers would often ask me to help with sound at acoustic-style showcases. For anything more complex, I will most likely need some guidance for the first few times, but I pick up skills really quickly and really want to learn more about live sound. When performing live, I perform mainly acoustically and have been gigging since I was 13, at a mixture of festivals and venues around the UK. Some festivals include: CarFest South, Croydon Pride Fest, and Crystal Palace Park Festival. Larger venues include Olympia London, Regent Street’s Apple Store and Lord’s Cricket Ground, smaller venues include: TMRW Hub, The Bedford, and Nambucca.
