About Camille Simone Brereton

Lowkita is a Vancouver-based artist who seamlessly blends Hip Hop grooves, R&B melodies, and Caribbean influences into a sound uniquely her own. Her latest release, "Real Friends", produced in collaboration with Jane Aurora, redefines friendship through her bold delivery over a drill-inspired Hip Hop beat. “I want my music to reach people worldwide and reflect not only my culture but also the cultures that have shaped me,” she shares. Lowkita first made waves in 2016 with her debut EP, "Rude", entirely produced by MR Floetic (Dynasty Boys, Tion Gibbs, Arami). The duo has continued their creative synergy, collaborating on tracks like "In My Feels" (released February 2021). Over the years, she’s expanded her repertoire, working with notable producers such as Sokartes (GroundWork) and Julius (Fiyah). During the pandemic, Lowkita honed her artistic skills beyond music, exploring acting (including a role in Nancy Drew) and descriptive narration for Netflix. Her journey into production began in 2020 when she participated in the Equity X Production Mentorship Program, marking her debut as a beatmaker. By 2022, Lowkita was lighting up stages at festivals like Sled Island and Safe and Sound Vancouver and delivering standout performances at the Breakout West Conference. In 2024, she continued her streak of unforgettable live performances, opening for Canadian Hip Hop legends Maestro Fresh Wes, Michie Mee, and Swollen Members. Recently, Lowkita has reignited her passion for DJing, taking her love for Afro House and Hip Hop back to the decks, a pastime she first explored as a teenager. Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Lowkita began her artistic journey as a community dancer before picking up the mic at 13—a moment that changed her trajectory forever. “I hope to keep doing this until I’m old and grey. As long as my mouth can move, there’s no stopping me.” Lowkita is a force to watch, evolving her craft while staying true to her roots and embracing a world of musical inspiration.
