About Marie Saintonge

Marie Saintonge is a flutist, composer, producer, and educator. Her career began in 2004 with the composition and production of La Storia, an album with mixed sounds combining Argentine and Brazilian rhythms, released on the high-fidelity label Fidelio Audio. She then made a name for herself on the world music scene in Canada, collaborating with musicians from various backgrounds. Curious and passionate about flutes from around the world, she went to study in Los Angeles with Pedro Eustache. In 2010, she produced Hawazone, an album inspired by her travels. From 2011 to 2013, she was flutist and composer in residence for One & Only Los Cabos, a prestigious resort in Mexico. Between 2013 and 2014, Marie deepened her practice of bansuri in India, where she gave concerts in several major cities. Her arrival in northeastern Brazil in 2015 marked a turning point in her artistic and personal life: there she met percussionist Cicero Romão de Almeida Pará, who would become her husband and musical partner. Now living between Brazil and Canada, she is devoting herself to the Casa Mangará Musical series, a project rooted in northeastern rhythms, choro, and world music. On February 6, 2026, Marie Saintonge releases Céu de caju, an EP paying tribute to Ceará, Brazil, her adopted home. She is planning a tour between Canada and Brazil for 2026.
