Myriam's Experience

After performing in a variety of cover bands as a singer and musician (piano, guitar, bass, ukulele, percussions, flutes) in Reunion, France and Tasmania, I decided to record and produce my own songs as an indie artist. I released my first original project Ballad’ in 2021, featuring songs that I wrote, composed, recorded and mixed all by myself. I perform almost every instrument and voice track on this album, making it very personal and authentic to the music I wanted to create. I have been performing these songs by myself and with my band for three years now in Reunion island, in festivals, bars and restaurants mostly. I also sometimes compose, arrange, orchestrate and record music for other projects (movies, dance projects, music schools, etc…) when asked. Arranging and directing orchestras at some point would actually be a dream for me. I am now performing my songs from the Ballad’ album, as well as new unreleased songs from my upcoming album, in Reunion and am looking to perform abroad as much as possible. I also have experience in teaching music (and science, haha) and directing small student groups. How I studied music : I have been studying music since I was 4 years old, by taking piano classes, following the classical method and then jazz, for 10 and 2 years. I then learned a lot by playing and singing in different groups since high school (pop, rock, folk, jazz), and learning other harmonic instruments by myself. When I came home from my studies away in 2020, I started studying Reunion traditional music at the Conservatorium, where I have been learning percussions (roulèr, congas, pikèr, sati, kayamb, etc…) and even more harmony.
