Nell Dare has been crafting an introspective shakeup piano rock sound, along the lines of Tori Amos meets Twenty One Pilots. Although she has been writing songs for decades, “Nell Dare” was born during the pandemic which sparked a return to songwriting. Pandemic songs are a special type. In 2022, Nell entered one of these songs, “Not a Believer”, in a few songwriting contests to success- being a finalist in the Great American Song Contest (Rock/ Alt category) as well as a honorable mention in the SongDoor contest. Encouraged by this, she focused on the open mic and songwriter scene in Hampton, VA, where she lived at that time. More singles bought more success- a TV appearance and nominations at the Veer Magazine music awards in 2024 and 2025. Nell Dare relocated to Hampstead, NC in August 2024 where she has established herself in the Wilmington music scene. She organized the first annual Women’s Festival in March 2026 at Tap Yard in Wilmington, which featured several local female songwriters, including herself. She is looking forward to releasing more singles, supporting the local music scene and growing her audience.
