About Nique Love Rhodes

Nique Love Rhodes is a multi-hyphenate recording artist/performer, record producer, social entrepreneur, and cultural organizer from Detroit, Michigan with the mission to set souls on fire and contribute positive vibes in the world one song at a time. Inspired by artists such as Nina Simone, Lauryn Hill, Lupe Fiasco and Bob Marley, Nique Love Rhodes creates music that elevates positive vibrations within the universal collective conscience, promotes social consciousness and social responsibility, and inspires people to affect positive change in the world. With her self-released debut album, Against All Odds, Nique infuses her songs with messages of hope, unity, spirituality, and calls to action for social change as seen in songs such as “Love Heals All” and “Rise Up,” which was licensed for use by the NFL Network and the Detroit Lions. In 2013, Nique was nominated for two Detroit Music Awards. Since this time, she has performed at many major festivals and headlined venues including the North by Northeast Music Festival (Toronto), African World Fest (Detroit), the Nuyorican Poets Café (New York City), and the South by Southwest Music Festival (Texas). Her music is galvanized by her bold, energetic, and empowering live show. Backed by her band The NLR Experience, her interactive shows fuse hip-hop music with jazz and rock to create a dynamic live musical experience. Nique Love Rhodes & The NLR Experience can be heard on all music streaming platforms and at a live show near you. While music with a positive message has been at the forefront Nique’s brand, she extends her passion to initiatives that are rooted in community and social justice. She recently launched her nonprofit, Rise Up Higher, which uses music as a tool for social good. Under this Rise Up Higher, she and her band offers character development workshops and music lessons for youth, perform and speak at school assemblies, and advocates for various social justice causes within the community. In 2015, Nique was recognized by the State of Michigan as “Youth Mentor of the Year.” Nique is also the co-founder of D.Cipher, a music mastermind collective dedicated to advancing the Detroit music economy through collaboration and partnerships. As a cultural organizer, Nique seamlessly blends the worlds of music and activism through curating and producing events that infuse the arts into communities to advocate for and advance social justice initiatives as seen in her partnerships with Detroit nonprofits CitizenDetroit and Creative Many Michigan. Nique Love Rhodes is a graduate of Spring Arbor University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Ministry.
