About Paitra Walker

Paitra is a Toronto-based Canadian singer-songwriter, performer, and independent recording artist whose sound blends elements of '70s rock, folk, and alternative pop with a fresh, modern approach. Drawing inspiration from artists like Fleetwood Mac, ABBA, and Shania Twain, she effortlessly moves between genres, pairing nostalgic influences with playful melodies, thoughtful songwriting, and a distinctive artistic identity. With over a decade of experience performing in bands, Paitra launched her solo project in 2023, bringing her own creative vision to the forefront. Since then, she has continued to build her presence in the Canadian music scene, performing at festivals and venues across Ontario, including Let Her Sing, NXNE and the CNE. Beyond her work as a singer and songwriter, Paitra is also experienced in live performance, studio recording, and musical collaboration. Having studied Creative Industries at Toronto Metropolitan University, with a focus on music and media business, she brings an understanding of both the artistic and entrepreneurial sides of the industry. As an independent artist, she is passionate about developing her craft, building meaningful industry relationships, and creating opportunities for herself and other women in music.

Paitra's Experience

I’ve been writing music and performing for audiences since the age of 10, developing my skills as a singer, songwriter, performer, and studio musician over the years. Through hands-on experience in live performance, songwriting, recording, and collaboration, I’ve built a well-rounded understanding of the creative process. Alongside my artistic development, I studied Creative Industries at Toronto Metropolitan University, focusing on music and media business, which allowed me to develop the business knowledge and industry understanding needed to navigate the professional side of the music industry. I apply this combination of creative and business skills to every aspect of my career, from creating and recording music to performing live and managing my own independent music projects.
