Tamara's Experience

Limitation is the mother of creativity. This self taught producer has learned how to stretch these limitations on a dime. From learning workarounds from lack of equipment in the early 2000’s that let her hone her chops as a prolific Mix Engineer. To her current search for vintage sounds while refurbishing old 80’s Benetton Guitars. Sound design is her thing. She’s currently exploring new sounds taken from well known virtual instruments dropped straight to a small tape recorder found at a flea market back to the D.A.W. for her ever growing sound design collection. “The thing now isn’t affordability, it’s sculpting sounds to not sound like everyone with a copy of Native Instruments or incorporating Live Instruments.” Cutty has learned how to maximize limitations for over ten years as a home/trap producer before they were catch phrases. Recording primarily in an urban landscape afforded her the opportunity to learn how to transform less then perfect studio acoustic space that translates to any environment. From learning about the natural reverb when computer recording was just growing legs to using the cutting edge plugins of today. It’s often the case most rappers don’t produce, but know someone that does. She’s that someone from Vocal Technique to Matching the Mics and Preamps to the Right Voice even the Music Behind it to the Finish Product. Cutty’s that someone locally known for getting that sound right at the source. Primarily proficient in FL Studio, Pro Tools, Logic..When asked what D.A.W. does she use? Her answer is, “Does it record?” One summer entailed recording a banjo album using nothing more than a Tascam recorder then dropping into Reaper for mixing and overdubbing. She can get world class sound from almost anything while maintaining modern sounds and complexities.
