About Renaissance Austin
I am Renaissance Marie Austin, a native of Los Angeles. I have been passionate about the visual and performing arts my entire life, from dance and theater, to singing, performing, and visual mediums. I was artistic and creative as a child writing poetry, songs, crocheting, sewing, writing fiction, journaling, and sketching. I discovered my gift of singing in the third grade when I sang "This Little Light of Mine" for show and tell. From there voice became my first instrument. Music was the most dominant entity in my life and still is. I would fall asleep to the radio every night with my hand on the dial and when a song was finished, I would wake up, turn to the next station, and fall asleep again. I sang everyday and dreamed of my future in music. Fast forwarding to adult life, I have sang with ensembles, choirs, groups, and formed my own band for live performances. I have used my voice professionally for film, tv, celebrity weddings, private parties, corporate events, and award shows. I've written for local up and coming artists, collaborated with other songwriters, written for myself, and recorded demos for about 19 years. Currently, I sing with an inspirational gospel group at the House of Blues for the Gospel Brunch. We are also requested for weddings and festivals. In 2016 I returned to school to pursue my degrees and certificates in music and am proud to announce that this Spring I will fully complete my institutionalized education. I have already been certified in Commercial Music, which includes songwriting, music business, piano, fundamentals, and three courses in Pro Tools music production through Avid Learning Schools. Finally, I will be receiving two degrees in October 2020, an Associates in Music and an Associates in General Education - Fine Arts - Applied Degree Program. Vocal stylings include, Classical, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Pop, Rock, Soul, and Country. Languages I sing in are Italian, Latin, French, German, and Spanish, and South African Zulu. Although voice is my first instrument, along the way I have picked up drums, acoustic guitar, bass, and percussion instruments. Lastly, I am in the completion stages of my first project entitled "Road to Damascus", a musical journey I am so proud of and a story I can't wait to tell.

Renaissance's Experience
For my most recent project I am producing my own tracks, writing my own songs, editing and doing rough mixes on each session. I am acting as my own recording engineer and project financier, and when comes to social networking, I am marketing and promoting myself on Vero, Instagram, Youtube, Linkedin, and Soundcloud. I have a great passion for music journalism as well, which causes me to spend time researching and bringing together my thoughts, opinions, and perceptions about music, past, present, and future as well as on the artists I love and how they navigate their careers. The articles I write are mostly for my own understanding and gratification. They are added to my blog as writing samples. In the Classical Music genre I recently did a tribute to Marian Anderson singing the Negro Spiritual “O What a Beautiful City” for Black History Month, and this coming May 2020 I will be singing Puccini’s “Vissi d’arte” with the Los Cancioneros Orchestra.
