About Sonia La Blasca

Born under the influence and power of music, she's only 11 years old when she starts studying music and singing at the Brass Group of Palermo. She continues her technical studies privately, affirming her strong will to dedicate her entire life to music, delivering it to people. Graduated in Jazz Voice at the Conservatorio Girolamo Frescobaldi with full marks, she takes the opportunity to attend several events, projects, and concerts, such as the "La Strada del Jazz" jazz festival, "Sax Society" of Mr. Roberto Manuzzi, and the opening event of the town council of Ferrara. During her stay at the city of Ferrara, she meets and collaborates with milestones representatives of the international jazz scene of the caliber of Johnny O'Neal, Jimmy Coob, Harold Mabern, Darryl Hall, and the singer Sheila Jordan, the latter who's become her mentor until today. Returned to Palermo, her native city, she affirms herself in the local scene attending to several projects like the International Jazz Day at the RAI (Main national TV/Radio station) headquarters, the Castelbuono Jazz Festival, and the acknowledged Ficuzza Jazz Festival review. In 2017 she passes the admission to the New York City College for Jazz Singing discipline but, due to bureaucratic issues, she's forced to withdraw, pursuing her academic path to the Conservatorio Alessandro Scarlatti of Palermo, with Mr. Gaetano Riccobono. During the pandemic events and the isolation, she dedicates herself to composition. It's in this period that she discovers new sounds and styles, different from her past studies in jazz, and closer to pop and r&b music, definitely changing her directions in music. In September 2021, she published her first single called "Silence", dedicated to those who have suffered, who struggles to love and listen to themselves, finding a cure and comfort through silence.
