About Bobbi Jo Hart

I am a Montreal-based documentary filmmaker and mother of a 14 year-old daughter (Phoénix Hart) who loves music and started songwriting at age 12. My current theatrical documentary film celebrates the untold story of the Pilipina-founded rock band FANNY, the first all female band to release an album with a major label (Warner/Reprise/1970). The film is in post production (Spring/Summer 2019) and will be released in early 2020. It includes interviews with Bonnie Raitt, Kathy Valentine, Gail Ann Dorsey, Alannah Myles, Kate Pierson, Alice Merton, Alice Bag, Joe Elliott, Charles Neville, Todd Rundgren, Earl Slick and many others who either worked with or deeply respect FANNY, who (all in late 60s/early 70s!) recently reunited with a new record deal to release a new rock album! My previous award-winning films have included www.rebelsonpointe.com, about the famed Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo and I AM NOT A ROCK STAR, a process films that follows the coming of age story of aspiring concert pianist Marika Bournaki, for 8 years (age 12-20). I'm also passionate about mentoring girls and young women and have been developing a passion project to create girls music mentoring tents at music festivals around North America (and the world). I'd love to collaborate with women through She Is The Music to help bring this project to fruition. She IS the Music!

Bobbi Jo's Experience

I am a documentary filmmaker with a special passion for films about women, especially women in music. I am also passionate about mentoring girls in music. I created a Songwriting Boot Camp for Girls in Montreal in Summer 2019 and brought Sonya Kitchell from NYC to lead the camp at my home, attended by teenage girls including my music-loving, songwriting daughter Phoénix. My passion project is to create music mentoring tents for girls at major music festival in the future.
