About Austin Musick

I am Unitsi Ai, also known as Austin Musick, a singer, songwriter, poet, producer and actor based in Los Angeles, California. Originally from East Tennessee and born with a mixed heritage that consisted of Cherokee and Japanese, I am a raw, real, and soulful singer of stories inspired by life experience, as I combines poetry, rhythm, and melody in perfect unison. Writing poetry since I was a child, I took a few piano lessons at the age of nine but was chastised and  discouraged from continuing after my teacher caught me playing by ear and memory rather than reading the sheet music. Nevertheless as an artist, I was determined to create, somehow, someway. I studied at the University of Tennessee as a single mother at 18yrs old, where I graduated with a B.A. in Theatre and a minor in Business., Ironically, I never auditioned for and therefore was never cast in a musical. In fact, it took nearly 15 years before I would return to my roots of writing and poetry that would later provide the inspiration and springboard to my music career. I reside in Los Angeles, still single, with my two daughters and surrogate son/man in my life, a Pitt bull mix named Romeo.

Austin's Experience

Since Quarantine, I have produced, directed, starred in, and editing three music videos that can all be found on Youtube. I am currently prepping for a livestream charity concert to raise funds for Homeboy Industries Inc and The LA. Mission on Dec 19th, so I am learning all that I can in how to do that including the OBS software that will be paired with my Presonus Interface (which is all new to me coming from a Theatre Background.)
