Vanessa' Experience

I am an 18-year-old singer-songwriter. I’ve had a passion for music since I was 9 years old when I joined my church choir. I am still in my church choir today, where I am a lead singer as well as the lead piano player, I use chord notation. In middle school, I was in band where I played the alto saxophone for 3 years, so I know how to read music and collaborate with other musicians. In high school, I joined the Turtle Bay Music School all-girls choir, where we sang multiple songs from different genres. I sang as a soprano and had a solo where I sang “Part Of Your World” from The Little Mermaid. Once everything went virtual due to Covid-19 I also joined and am currently still in MCC Youth Company, where we explore acting and creating our own pieces. The show for MCC Youth Company will take place in late April and I will be singing 2 songs that I wrote. I am a singer-songwriter, I write lots of songs and know how to use digital audio workstations, such as GarageBand, Logic Pro x, and Soundtrap to record vocals and instruments. Last year in the summer I was a part of the Singer-Songwriter program at Interlochen Center for the Arts, where I learned different songwriting techniques as well as recording techniques when using these digital audio workstations. Lastly, I have a Youtube Channel with about 500 subscribers that I started last year where I post weekly covers and originals, using digital audio workstations, an external microphone, and video editing software such as Final Cut Pro and iMovie.
