About Mary-Helen Victoria Shomba

What's up, my name is Mary-Helen Victoria Shomba (aka Victis2.0) and I'm a worshipper/producer/rapper from Round Rock, TX. I was born in Nouakchott, Mauritania (which is northwest Africa), but came to the states with my parents and siblings when I was eleven months old. Growing up in TX, I was a part of a Christian hip hop group called "A.1.8." We based our group off the Bible verse Acts 1:8, which talks about spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of the Earth. I was also involved in my church's music ministry as a singer on the worship team. After moving to Indiana for college and getting a full-time job as a mechanical engineer in 2021, I began focusing on building my brand as a solo artist. I love music and the opportunity to creatively express my heart through it! It's a powerful, amazing gift God's given us:)

Mary-Helen Victoria's Experience

The many years I spent in church choir have definitely helped me gain a better understanding of harmonies and how voices can complement each other. Also, understanding volume, for example how to build up anticipation or quiet down in an intimate moment, have been key learnings that I currently use as I participate vocally and instrumentally (the piano) in a young adult worship group. Since recently diving into the realm of producing/beat making, I use these same concepts of “harmonies” and “voluming” between different instruments to create various moods. Lately I’ve been focusing on accurately relaying whatever the desired emotion is with my beats through specific chord progressions. Knowing certain chords create a “happy” vibe versus others creating a “sad” one have helped me better relay what’s on my heart to share. As I dive deeper into music, I know there is so much more for me to learn, but I’m thanking God for the journey thus far (and for YouTube)!
